Game Science has shared a fresh look at its upcoming action role-playing game, Black Myth: Zhong Kui. On August 20, the studio posted an approximately 15-minute gameplay video on its official YouTube channel, giving fans their first extended look at the game in action.
The video shows off the protagonist’s design, exploration of the game’s environments, several characters players may encounter, and combat sequences against various enemies. One detail that stood out to viewers is that the main character is human in appearance, a shift from Black Myth: Wukong, whose protagonist was based on the Monkey King. This change has drawn attention to how the combat style and animations differ from the previous game.
Black Myth: Zhong Kui is being developed as a third-person ARPG and serves as the follow-up to Black Myth: Wukong. The game was first announced at gamescom 2025. Its story follows Zhong Kui, a deity from Eastern mythology known as a slayer of demons, a premise that has generated strong interest among players following the series.

Alongside the video, Game Science noted that the game is still early in development. The footage was captured from a work-in-progress build running in a 21:9 aspect ratio, and the studio cautioned that the final version of the game may look and play differently once it’s finished. With this gameplay reveal, Game Science has given fans a clearer picture of what to expect from its next project, though further details on release plans have not yet been shared.
