The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry has shared the results of its IP360 program, a government initiative built to support Japanese content creators in growing overseas sales to 20 trillion yen by 2033. Among the companies receiving funding is Koei Tecmo Games, which is working on a new project titled FUJI (working title).
According to the ministry’s announcement, FUJI will draw on Koei Tecmo’s experience with oriental style visuals and action gameplay, building on the kind of strengths the studio has shown in its past work. The stated goal for the project is to reach players around the world and become a global hit.
Koei Tecmo is not the only studio named in the funding results. Applibot is developing a new action game called Project Needle, set in a world inspired by Japanese history and planned for consoles and PC with support for several languages. Arc System Works is working on a new fighting game that will use the studio’s signature cel-shaded animation style, with plans for a simultaneous release across major platforms and full localization. Konami Digital Entertainment has a new console project in development aimed at both Japanese and international players. Yokozuna Games is working on Tactful Tactics, a cooperative online game that blends turn-based strategy with roguelike dungeon crawling, planned for consoles and PC worldwide.
No release window, additional platforms, or further gameplay details have been shared for FUJI at this time. The IP360 program is part of a broader effort by the Japanese government to help local studios reach wider audiences abroad, and more information on these projects is expected to come from the companies themselves as development moves forward.
