Indie Wavemakers Exchange (IWX) is now just two weeks out, and the organizers have added more speakers and session topics to the lineup ahead of the July 10 event in Singapore.
One of the bigger announcements is that all IWX ticket holders will receive free admission to charc+r Fest. This year’s charc+r Fest is themed around “IP In Play,” focusing on how original intellectual property expands across different mediums and creative fields. The festival highlights original character creators, indie art-toy designers, and a new Gaming Zone that showcases original gaming IP from local creators. IWX and charc+r Fest have partnered before, and this marks another joint edition of the two events. Indie games interested in exhibiting at charc+r Fest can also access special rates.

On the speaker side, several new sessions have been confirmed. Jon Carnage will lead a talk titled “How Weird Games Break Through,” digging into how unconventional indie games manage to build audiences and turn into cultural moments. James will present “Why We Bet the Company on a Dungeon,” covering the current state of the games industry and how studios might approach future-proofing their business strategies.
A fireside chat called “To All the Games I Never Signed” brings together Patrick Johnson, Brian Kwek, and Sam Low to discuss the publishing side of things — specifically the games that didn’t end up getting signed and what developers can learn from those situations. The organizers describe this as a must-attend session for anyone currently looking for a publisher.

There’s also a panel on game development in Singapore, featuring perspectives from three different levels of the industry. All tickets to IWX include full-day event access, lunch, an invite to the Wave Party, and the free charc+r Fest admission. Tickets are currently on sale for those looking to attend. Taking place at Catapult’s Ascent Auditorium (Level 2, 1 Rochester Park, Rochester Commons), the one-day event runs from 11a.m. to 6p.m., with registration opening at 10:30am. A Wave Party networking session follows from 6pm to 9pm.
