Bethesda Game Studios has confirmed that Starfield will launch on PlayStation 5 on April 8, coinciding with the release of its next major content drops, Terran Armada and Free Lanes. These updates represent the most significant additions to the game since its 2023 debut, offering both newcomers and veteran players the most complete experience of the Settled Systems yet.
Starfield Comes to PlayStation 5

For the first time, PlayStation 5 players can explore Starfield’s vast universe, taking full advantage of the console’s hardware. Features like the lightbar, adaptive triggers, and touchpad are integrated into gameplay, while PS5 Pro owners can choose between Pro Performance Mode, prioritizing higher FPS, or Pro Visual Mode, enhancing graphical fidelity. Bethesda’s aim is to make the game more accessible to new players without compromising the depth and content that returning explorers expect. The base edition of Starfield will retail at USD $49.99 across all platforms, inviting a wider audience to join the universe.
Free Lanes Update Deepens the Experience

The Free Lanes update expands interplanetary travel within star systems. Players can now cruise seamlessly from planet to planet. Along the way, they will encounter events, missions, and interactions with their ship crew.
Moreover, the update introduces new locations, including encounters, points of interest, and dungeons. These additions further expand the universe. A new resource, X-Tech, allows players to upgrade weapons, ship modules, and equipment.
At the same time, enemies behave more dynamically. New tiers introduce stronger shielding, elemental damage, and more frequent attacks.

Planetary exploration is further enhanced with the Moon Jumper, a new land vehicle, while outpost management benefits from cross-outpost storage and the addition of the Milliewhale pet. The update also introduces new crew members, including Muria and a mini-bot, and improves the Starborn system, allowing certain items to carry over into a New Game+ run. Free Lanes is available to all players at no extra cost, enriching both new and returning gameplay experiences.
Terran Armada Story Expansion

The Terran Armada DLC introduces an entirely new questline across the Settled Systems, featuring fresh characters, locations, enemies, and rewards. Players are given the chance to influence the future of humanity in space while confronting the robotic incursions of the Terran Armada. Existing Premium Edition owners on Xbox and Steam will receive this story expansion for free, ensuring fans can continue exploring Starfield’s universe without additional cost.
Trackers Alliance Expands Bounty Hunting

Bethesda continues to build on the Trackers Alliance, which was introduced in 2024 to enhance bounty hunter gameplay. The latest update adds five new adventures, complete with new targets, contracts, and rewards. Players who already own the original Trackers Alliance content receive these new missions for free, while newcomers can access the full set for 700 Creations Credits, offering additional options to experience Starfield from a bounty hunter perspective.
A More Complete Starfield Experience

With the PlayStation 5 launch, Free Lanes update, Terran Armada DLC, and expanded Trackers Alliance content, Starfield enters its most complete and refined stage yet. Bethesda Game Studios has created a universe that accommodates both first-time explorers and returning veterans, delivering expanded gameplay, story content, and quality-of-life improvements. As Starfield continues to grow, players have more reasons than ever to dive into the Settled Systems and experience everything the cosmos has to offer.
