Game Science has revealed their next project during gamescom 2025, Black Myth: Zhong Kui, a single-player action RPG that will be the second game in the Black Myth series after Black Myth: Wukong. The game is planned for PC and console platforms, though specific platforms will be announced closer to release.
The developer was upfront about the game’s current status. According to their official website FAQ, the project is still in very early development – described as “little more than an empty folder at this stage.” Instead of gameplay footage, Game Science released a CG short to announce the project.
The announcement follows the company’s tradition of updating players every August 20. Game Science changed their social media accounts from “Black Myth: Wukong” to simply “Black Myth” to cover future games in the series.
Game Science explained their choice to focus on Zhong Kui rather than making a direct sequel to Black Myth: Wukong first. The team wants to “build more distinct game experiences” and “challenge ourselves with bolder features” while bringing fresh ideas to their world and story design.

The developer assured fans that “the westward journey won’t end here,” meaning Black Myth: Wukong content will continue in the future. Game Science has not provided a release window for Black Myth: Zhong Kui. The team admitted they have “absolutely no idea” about a rough release date and are still working on the story outline and gameplay details. The developer promised to share updates through their official website and social media account.
