Eggy Party First Impressions – Overflowing Cuteness Amidst Rainbow Chaos 

Eggy Party is NetEase Games‘ take on the competitive party game genre for mobile devices, pitting players against each other in a series of obstacle courses where only one remaining player can be crowned as winner.

Now that Eggy Party is available for download from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, let’s see what this party game could offer in its colorful yet chaotic obstacle courses.

Egg-citing Chaos 

In Eggy Party, you play as an Eggy to compete with other players in a series of outrageous obstacle courses in a vibrant toy-like world inspired by game shows like Takeshi’s Castle and Wipeout.

Each obstacle course is selected at random, opening more replayability as in one match you could be racing other players to the finish line on rainbow tracks, while another time you would compete in teams to fill the stage with your designated colors.

There are also many random items scattered around each stage, opening many fun strategies such as summoning a giant bowling ball to run down other contestants or placing a jump pad to hop higher.

Apart from the regular run and jump movement options, you can also tackle in Eggy Party, allowing you to get through obstacles while knocking other contestants aside as they fall to the endless cloud below and reset at a checkpoint behind you.

Since Eggies are round in shape, you can also roll around like a ball and accelerate to bypass other racers. The touchscreen movement control feels fluid and I never feel like I struggle to bypass obstacles even amidst all the chaos.

Another noteworthy ability your character has is the skill to pick up various objects and that includes other players, offering you the opportunity to pull off some hilarious pranks and throw other players off the course.

With its short and sweet pacing, the game is a lot of fun as I fight my way through other players, scramble about on oddly shaped slopes, and knock others away for some hilarious ragdoll moments.

Matches are also found rather frequently and I never feel the need to wait for more than 5 minutes for a new race.

Eggies in the EGGYVERSE of Egg-citement

Arguably one of the most attractive aspects of Eggy Party is the visual style where Eggies, the player characters serve as the game’s mascots and take center stage. These egg-shaped cartoon blobs, whilst simple in design, are sprinkled with a lot of personalities, especially with the squeaky noises they make as they hop around.

Right from the start of the game, you are given the ability to customize your own Eggy in a character creator. While the options are limited, there are enough choices to create your own unique and adorable Eggy, especially with the varied expressions like the heart-shaped eyes, sad look, and my favorite, the smug face.

As a free-to-play title, Eggy Party also comes with cosmetic items that are unlockable through microtransactions or through playing the game. The cosmetic items are quite varied, allowing you to further fashion your Eggies with clothes like fluffy sweaters or stylish headgear.

In addition to cosmetic items, the game also features Eggy Enhancement, ability upgrades that further bolster certain aspects of your character to improve upon their movement to gain a better advantage in a race.

Moreover, you also have a variety of Ultimate Skill choices to use during the race to mess with other players. One example is to transform your character into an Eggy Bomb that blows up after a short time, allowing you to chase down other contestants and explode, knocking them away.

Egg-cellent Fun Time

Eggy Party is an absolute fun time with its array of entertaining and outrageous obstacle courses, each unique in its own way and offering great replayability. Moreover, chaos would also erupt within each match as players would try to one-up each other with their charming and personality-filled Eggies, resulting in many unforgettable funny ragdoll moments.

Admittedly, it does seem weird to play a party game with ability upgrades as the genre tends to give each player a fresh start each match. However, since the game is more casual and designed for fun times, there is no need to worry too much about the ability enhancements and being competitive.

With enough wits, you can still win a race against dedicated players, and rolling around as a ball while trying to pick other players up to throw them off the course is just too much fun.
