Clone games aren’t particularly few and far between when it comes to mobile games, especially when it comes to popular IPs, this time its with Spider Fighter.

Available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, it is pretty obvious to see which game Spider Fighter is based off, having some of the playable characters be extremely similar to their counterparts. Even having one of the game’s descriptions stating which character the game is referencing from.

“Are you ready to become the ultimate spider hero and take on the fight for justice in the game of the highly anticipated movie? As Peter, you’ll step into the shoes of the iconic spider hero and battle against notorious city gangs and nefarious villains to save the city from destruction.”

Interestingly enough aside from the Spider Fighter games (there’s 3 of them), Starplay DMCC, the studio behind the mobile game titles have also put out other various clone titles, such as “John Assassin” and “Spider Girl”, all of which have these similar cartoonish artstyle of their characters in the screenshot section of the app store.

However, the games that Starplay DMCC have put out are pretty well received, Spider Fighter 3 in particular having over 10 Million downloads and over 203 Thousand reviews, with the game scoring a 4.5 out of 5 on the Google Play Store.

Trying out the game, it feels like your generic action game that may seem to borrow elements from the Spider-Man games, but lacks combat depth that fans enjoy the series for, which makes this clone game feel like a bland knockoff.

Another interesting thing to note that according to AppMagic, the release date for the Spider Fighter games are all over the place, with the first game being released on 13th September, the second game on 9th May and the third game on 14th December, all of which are released on 2022.

Spider Fighter 2 had also garnered a total of over 60,000 USD, which is significantly higher than the first and third game combined.

Clone games have always been a prevalent issue especially in the mobile gaming-sphere, but it seems like Spider Fighter takes the cake on it.
