The team behind Tower of Fantasy has issued an apology after they were caught using assets from Honkai Impact 3rd in their latest PV, upsetting many fans.
In the newest PV for the Tower of Fantasy character Meryl, soldiers can be seen holding a sword eerily similar to the 3rd Sacred Relic, a sword in Honkai Impact 3rd.
In a Weibo post, they said they would be updating the PV to replace the stolen assets accordingly.
“Due to our negligence, we failed to discover the problem of misuse of material in time, and as of now, the existing material in question has been arranged to be revised and updated”, they said. “In this regard, we have conducted a profound review and apologize to all the topographers affected by this matter.”
They said the slip up was because the assets weren’t developed internally- according to the statement, development of the PV was outsourced- and no one realized it was the case.
“After verification, the reason for this problem is that the PV outsourcing process, the supplier used some material that is not in the game, and we did not find it in time during the review, so the misused material video was released normally”, they said.
The apology was met with some criticism on Weibo, with fans particularly taking offense at the team only posting at midnight- where less people might see it.
“Even if you send an apology microblog at 3:00 in the middle of the night, I have to put up my middle finger with this trembling hand”, one comment reads.
