How to Fish, an indie coop game that combines wacky physics-based fishing with gunplay and survival, just hit a million sales two days after its launch. It supports up to four players, where the goal is to team up, survive, and return home after a drinking-and-boating incident left you castaways.
The game launched on Steam and was developed by Dazed Games, a two-man team co-founded by Melvin Olsson and Carl-Vilhelm Johansson. Upon hitting a million sales in two days, the duo posted on Steam: “WE HIT 1 MILLION FISHERMEN! THANK YOU ALL!” Furthermore, the duo promises more content and gameplay bug fixes on the way.
How to Fish is the second game from the studio, and the devs shared a first glimpse into its development in August 2025 on X. The clip showcased the core fishing mechanic and its absurd physics, where a fish is hooked from the water and flopped into the sky.

From there, the devs started adding features that broke away from any traditional fishing game, including gunplay and a casino. The game’s progress was posted on social media, where players also suggested what they wanted to see in the game, including a walking fish and melee features.
One year later, the game has earned a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with over 11,000 user reviews. It’s currently available on sale and can be bundled with the dev’s first game, Out of Hand, another chaotic party game.

The rise of “friendslop” games doesn’t seem to be slowing down in the indie game scene, and it’s not hard to see why. How to Fish focuses on social interaction paired with a simple yet fun premise, while the low barrier to entry makes it easy for anyone to jump in and start having fun.
