Toge Productions, the Indonesian studio known for making Coffee Talk and A Space for the Unbound, may be looking at moving its operations out of Indonesia. According to our sister site GamerWk, CEO Kris Antoni has spoken out on social media about a tax issue that he says has been weighing heavily on his company.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Kris shared his frustration after what he described as a run-in with tax officials who imposed rules he felt were applied without proper basis. He wrote that his company was hit with a tax underpayment demand, with authorities claiming that employee salaries during game development should have been amortized. Kris pointed out that Toge Productions never applied for, nor met the conditions required for, development cost capitalization making the charge, in his view, unjustified.

His message to other studios facing a similar situation was direct: “Just say no. Don’t agree to it.”

Beyond the financial strain, Kris expressed that the situation has taken a toll on time and energy that would otherwise go toward actually making games. He noted that he has spent 17 years working to push the Indonesian games industry forward, but that this experience has made him seriously consider relocating the studio abroad.
