The cozy life simulation game Pokémon Pokopia officially launched on March 5 for the Nintendo Switch 2. To celebrate the release, The Pokémon Company has rolled out a special promotional event across Malaysia known as the Pokémon Truck Experience, bringing the world of Pokémon Pokopia directly to fans in the Klang Valley.
The touring event allows members of the public to try the game in person, with the truck stopping at popular malls and transforming public spaces into small Pokémon Pokopia-themed activity zones. On March 6, we were invited to Sunway Pyramid to see the event in action and experience the Pokémon Truck firsthand.
A Purple Truck Inspired by Ditto

The Pokémon Truck was stationed at Level G, Orange Entrance of Sunway Pyramid, where it quickly became the centre of attention for curious mall visitors.
The truck itself is difficult to miss. Its vibrant purple exterior clearly takes inspiration from Ditto, even featuring a cute Ditto face at the front of the vehicle. On the side of the truck, a large screen continuously plays trailers for Pokémon Pokopia, drawing visitors closer to see what the experience is about.

Event crew members also fully embraced the theme, greeting guests while wearing Pokémon Pokopia-themed sun visors. Even on a weekday afternoon, the event attracted a steady crowd of visitors eager to see the truck and try the game for themselves.
Registering for a Chance to Play

Before stepping inside the truck, visitors first need to scan a QR code at the event area to register. Once the registration is complete, players receive a queue number that appears on a digital display screen.
The system allows visitors to monitor the queue in real time, making it easy to keep track of when their turn is approaching. While waiting, visitors can freely explore the other activities surrounding the truck.

Visitors can also collect a foldable paper sun visor, while stocks last. Three designs are available, featuring Pikachu, the unique Pokémon Pokopia variant Peakychu, and Ditto.
Activities Around the Pokémon Truck

The Pokémon Truck Experience is more than just a gameplay demo. The surrounding area features several activities designed to keep visitors entertained while waiting for their turn.
One of the highlights is the Pokémon Pokopia-themed photo booth, where visitors can pose for pictures with standees of Pokémon characters from the game. These include Professor Tangrowth as well as familiar faces like Squirtle.

There is also a colouring station that encourages visitors to pick a Pokémon illustration and colour it using markers provided at the booth. The activity is especially popular with younger fans and fits well with the relaxed, creative atmosphere that Pokémon Pokopia aims to deliver.

Another booth gives visitors the opportunity to try other Nintendo titles, including Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza. Playing these games rewards participants with different designs of Pokémon Pokopia stickers, encouraging visitors to try multiple activities around the event.
Trying Out Pokémon Pokopia

When their queue number is called, visitors can finally step inside the Pokémon Truck itself.

Inside, the space is designed as a small but comfortable gaming lounge. Players sit on bean bags in front of a television connected to a Nintendo Switch 2 running Pokémon Pokopia. The truck is also equipped with two air-conditioning units, which help keep the interior comfortable despite the constant flow of visitors.

Each session lasts around 15 minutes, giving players a short but meaningful opportunity to try the game.
Event staff guide players through the demo and offer helpful advice on how to approach the experience. While some players may prefer discovering the game on their own, the guidance makes sense given the limited time available. The assistance ensures that visitors can quickly understand the mechanics and experience several aspects of the game during the short session.
A Cozy Introduction to Pokémon Pokopia

During the demo, players experience a brief introduction to Pokémon Pokopia’s gameplay systems.
The session allows players to interact with Pokémon characters, help them with small tasks, and experiment with the game’s building and exploration mechanics. Even within a short demo window, the game’s relaxed pacing and cozy tone are immediately noticeable.

Pokémon Pokopia focuses on creating a peaceful world where players gradually shape their environment while building relationships with Pokémon companions.
Once the demo session ends, players receive another set of Pokémon Pokopia stickers as a reward. Since additional stickers are also available from the other activity booths, visitors can collect multiple designs by trying all three game stations at the event.
A Missing Pikachu Performance

One part of the event we unfortunately missed was a Pikachu mascot performance.
According to the event staff, Pikachu mascots perform special appearances during weekend sessions. Since our visit took place on a weekday, we were unable to catch the performance ourselves.

Visitors attending the event during the weekend will likely have the opportunity to see the mascots perform and interact with fans.
A Fun Way to Experience Pokémon Pokopia

Overall, the Pokémon Truck Experience offers a fun and welcoming way for fans to discover Pokémon Pokopia.
While the gameplay demo itself is relatively short, the surrounding activities, themed decorations, and collectible items help turn the visit into a memorable event. The Pokémon Truck manages to capture the cozy charm of the game while giving visitors a hands-on introduction to its world.
For fans in the Klang Valley, the travelling Pokémon Truck is a creative way to celebrate the launch of Pokémon Pokopia and a chance to step briefly into the peaceful world of Pokopia itself.
