Six Korean indie games are set to make their mark at one of Japan’s biggest indie gaming events, BitSummit Punch 2026, as part of the fourth season of the BIGEM project, a public-private initiative aimed at helping Korean indie developers reach global audiences.
BitSummit Punch 2026 runs from May 22 to 24 at Miyako Messe in Kyoto, Japan. Organized by the Japan Indie Game Association (JIGA), BitSummit is Japan’s largest international indie game showcase, drawing developers from across Asia, global publishers, and indie game fans. The event has an established partnership with BIC, the Busan Indie Connect Festival, making this collaboration a natural fit.
BIGEM stands for BIC Indie Global Expansion Marketing. It is a joint initiative between Pearl Abyss, the Game Culture Foundation, the BIC Organizing Committee, and the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency (BIPA). Running since 2022, the program selects standout indie games and supports them through the full process of going global, covering overseas exhibition participation, booth setup and operations, and promotional activities.

Starting with its fourth cohort selected in 2025, BIGEM expanded its scope to include leading companies chosen through the Korea Content Creative Agency’s indie game development support program, alongside existing BIC exhibitors. This wider selection process gives more Korean developers access to global opportunities.
The four organizations behind the fourth season’s BitSummit participation are: the Game Culture Foundation (Chairman Yoo Byung-han), BIPA (President Kim Tae-yeol), Pearl Abyss (CEO Heo Jin-young), and the BIC Organizing Committee (Chairman Joo Sung-pil).
