With gamescom 2026 officially wrapping up, event records have been broken. This year’s edition is touted as “more international than ever,” recording 368,000 visitors coming from 131 different countries. The accumulated participants who travelled abroad to celebrate the gaming culture in Cologne, Germany, is a 6% increase from last year.

Aside from visitors, the event also saw a notable increase in international exhibitors. A reported total of 1,743 companies across 66 countries were present at gamescom 2026—an 11% increase from 2025’s event.
An estimated 72 percent of exhibitors came from outside Germany, while 48 country pavilions represented 41 different nations. Over 36,000 trade visitors also travelled to Cologne, with roughly half from Brazil, Canada, the Netherlands, and the United States.
As for digital reach, gamescom 2026 reached over 624 million views by Saturday evening. Among this staggering figure, 78 million came from the opening night alone. The awesome indies show also reached new heights, gaining more than 670 percent to 302,000 views
Furthermore, the developer-focused programming attracted 6,200 participants, which is 15% more than 2025’s numbers. Numbers aside, this year’s Heart of Gaming Award was handed to Games Done Quick, which made its European debut during the event.

Felix Falk, Mahe German Games Industry Association, acknowledged the success of the event during a post-event media release. “In 2026, gamescom has delivered an impressive statement about its role as the central platform for the international games industry. Many of last year’s record figures were surpassed”
With the absence of E3, gamescom continues to prove itself as one of the must-see gaming events. Gerald Böse, President and Chief Executive Officer of Koelnmesse, echoes this. He stated, “gamescom brings people from all over the world together, combining the economic and social significance of games on a scale like no other.”
Finally, the website revealed that next year’s dates would be from August 25 to 29, with Opening Night Live starting on the 24th.
