Bob is stepping back into the ring for TEKKEN 8 Season 3, bringing his signature blend of raw power and surprising agility with him. He’s still the same big personality fans remember, but this time around, the developers have made some adjustments to how he plays that longtime users will want to know about. From his backstory to his reworked moveset, here’s what to expect from Bob ahead of his early access launch on August 20, 2026 and full release on August 25, 2026.
Who Bob Is
Bob’s full name is Robert Richards, a 190cm, 210kg fighter from the USA who fights using Freestyle Karate. Despite his loud and flashy look, his backstory centers on a specific obsession: chasing what he calls the Perfect Body, a combination of speed, weight, and power. This all traces back to a hospital stay where he couldn’t stand the food, so he came up with his own recipe for what became the strongest hamburger. After he left the hospital, he opened a hamburger chain and later added his own product, Bob’s Onigiri, which ended up sparking a big onigiri trend across America. When G Corp, led by Kazuya Mishima, took over New York, Bob ran a food bank giving out free hamburgers and onigiri, which earned him the nickname “Onigiri Savior.” That reputation eventually pushed him into a new role as an investigator for the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, where his main goal is bringing Kazuya to justice.

His two costumes reflect these two sides of him. Costume 1 is a red and orange training outfit meant for his days off, complete with playful text from his battle style printed on the thighs, hips, and gloves. Costume 3 takes a more formal approach, styled around his work as a DA investigator. That sense of justice even shows up in the game itself, since Bob has a special pre-fight intro animation against Kazuya where he says, “Cause ‘onigiri’ also means to slay devils,” a play on words since onigiri (rice ball) sounds like oni-giri (ogre slayer) in Japanese.

How Bob Fights
What makes Bob stand out in TEKKEN 8 is the contrast between his size and his movement. He’s a super heavyweight, but he doesn’t fight like one, mixing powerful attacks that take advantage of his large frame with light, acrobatic movement that feels out of place for someone his size. This mix of speed and weight is unique to Bob and shapes nearly every part of how he plays.
That identity is most obvious in his Heat Smash, called the Prix Fixe Justice Beat. It comes with two separate Perfect Input timings built in, one tied to speed and the other to weight. Landing both as perfect inputs increases the damage and changes the move’s visual effects, so nailing the timing actually matters instead of just being a nice extra.

His approach game leans on two main tools, United Step and the Spinner Ball stance. United Step is a stepping movement that closes the distance and leads into a high damage mid or low mix-up, backed up by follow-ups like Gambero Spin Heel, Cutting Coppa, and Toe Smash. Spinner Ball is the rolling stance longtime Bob players will already recognize from past games, though it’s not just carried over as is this time. The developers went back and adjusted some of its follow-ups, and one change veterans will likely notice right away is Stealing Home, which no longer passes through the opponent on hit like it used to. This shift changes how the move can be used to close out pressure or reset position, and it’s part of a wider pass on the stance overall.

On the development side, the team explained their approach to reworking him. “While preserving Bob’s trademark character from previous titles, we’ve reviewed the performance and behavior of his existing moves so that players can enjoy more dynamic and aggressive battles in TEKKEN 8,” they said. They also added that they hope veteran players get to experience the joy of discovering new tactics and combos, including spotting the differences from the Bob they already know.
On the defensive side, Bob has Perfect Body, a counter built around reading an opponent’s punch and reversing it with a well timed input. It’s supported by a counter kick that rewards precise timing with stronger effects and more damage.
What to Expect
Taken together, Bob plays as an all-rounder with a strong ability to react to whatever the opponent throws at him, pointing to a fairly balanced character rather than one built entirely around power or entirely around technique. Between his standing tools, the two stance based approach options, the reworked Spinner Ball, and the Perfect Input systems built into both his Heat Smash and his punish game, Bob comes across as a heavyweight designed to reward precision without losing the mix-up potential and mobility that made him fun to play in the first place.

His Season 3 return leans into the same contrast that has always defined him, a big, heavy fighter who still moves with real speed, and that identity runs through nearly everything about him, from the Heat Smash down to the Perfect Body counter, both of which reward precise Perfect Input timing rather than just button mashing. With early access landing on August 20, 2026 and the full release following just five days later on August 25, 2026, players won’t have to wait long to see how all of this plays out for themselves.
