Octopath Traveler originally debuted on Switch back on July 13, 2018. It later expanded to other platforms, arriving on PC through Steam in June 2019, Stadia in April 2020, Xbox One and Microsoft Store for PC in March 2021, and finally PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in June 2024. Its sequel, Octopath Traveler II, first released in February 2024 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam, followed by an Xbox Series, Xbox One, and Microsoft Store release that June.
For the Switch 2 versions of Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II, both games will feature improved resolution and frame rate compared to their original Switch releases. However, players should note that these new versions are not compatible with save data from the earlier Switch releases, and there is no upgrade path available for those who already own the original versions.
