Square Enix has officially launched a free trial for KILLER INN, giving players the chance to experience the asymmetrical multiplayer action game ahead of purchase. The trial arrives alongside a limited-time collaboration event with NieR:Automata, plus a major discount on the full game.
Developed by Tactic Studios and published by Square Enix, KILLER INN is currently available on PC via Steam. The new rollout aims to attract fresh players while expanding the game’s ongoing live-service ecosystem.
Free Trial Lets Players Jump Into Matches at No Cost

The newly released free trial allows players to access KILLER INN without any playtime restrictions. However, matchmaking eligibility and playable character options are partially limited during the trial period.
Despite these restrictions, progression earned during the free trial will carry over to the full game if players choose to purchase it later. This ensures that new players can transition smoothly into the full experience without losing their progress.
The timing of the trial aligns with the game’s latest update push, giving players a low-risk entry point into its deception-driven multiplayer gameplay.
NieR:Automata Collaboration Adds Cosmetic Rewards and Battle Pass

Alongside the KILLER INN free trial, Square Enix has introduced a limited-time collaboration event with NieR:Automata. The crossover adds themed cosmetics inspired by the iconic action RPG.
Players can unlock collaboration skins based on 2B and 9S, along with themed banners, pixel-style emotes, and player titles. In addition, a limited-time battle pass has been introduced, allowing players to earn event-specific rewards through progression.
The crossover is designed to bring recognizable elements from NieR:Automata into the chaotic multiplayer structure of KILLER INN, offering both visual customization and progression incentives.
Patch 0.9.3 Introduces Gameplay Adjustments and Balance Changes

A new update, Patch 0.9.3, has also gone live alongside the event. It introduces a series of gameplay adjustments aimed at improving match flow and overall balance.
Custom match functionality has been expanded, while instant-kill defense mechanics have been revised for clarity and fairness. Beginner matchmaking has also been improved to create a smoother onboarding experience for new players.
In addition, Showdown mode has been adjusted to begin when six players remain instead of three. This change is intended to improve pacing during late-stage matches. Several character balance tweaks, weapon adjustments, and bug fixes have also been included.
Major Discount Available Until June 4
To support the free trial and collaboration launch, KILLER INN is currently available at a 75 percent discount until June 4, 2026.
This promotion gives players an additional incentive to upgrade from the free trial experience into the full version of the game while the collaboration event is active.
With the KILLER INN free trial and NieR:Automata crossover, gameplay updates, and significant discount, Square Enix is positioning KILLER INN for a major engagement boost across its PC player base.
