Philippines Master Ball League Draws Biggest Crowd in History, Breaks Attendance Record with 3,475 Participants

The 2025-26 Philippines Master Ball League made history over the weekend, drawing the largest crowd ever recorded for a competitive Pokémon event in the country.

Held on April 25 and 26, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center in Manila, the two-day tournament welcomed a total of 3,475 attendees. That number is a 270% increase compared to the previous year, setting a new all-time attendance record for the Philippines. Of the total headcount, 1,034 players took part in the main competitive tournament, while the remaining 2,441 visitors participated in a range of side events open to the general public.

Beyond the main matches, the event offered a variety of activities aimed at both newcomers and experienced players. These included a Nintendo Switch 2 Hands-On Experience, Pokémon MEZASTAR, and beginner-friendly trial programs for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, among others. The side events gave casual fans and first-timers a chance to get involved without needing a competitive background.

The main tournament featured matches across multiple divisions, with players showing off strategies they had been building and refining over time. The final matches drew strong reactions from the crowd, with the high level of play keeping the energy in the venue high throughout. Following the competition, an award ceremony was held to recognize the top finishers from each division.

Players who placed at the top of their respective divisions earned invitations to the 2026 Pokémon World Championships, set to take place in San Francisco, USA, in August 2026. These qualifiers will represent the Philippines in what is the biggest stage in competitive Pokémon. The record-breaking turnout points to how much the Pokémon competitive scene has grown in the Philippines in recent years. The Master Ball League has stated that it will continue to support the growth of Pokémon battle content and its community in the country.
