Netflix is bringing the world of One Piece into brick form. A two-part LEGO animated special based on the hit pirate series is set to debut on September 29, retelling the events of the show’s first two seasons.
The special follows Usopp, one of the Straw Hat crew’s core members, as he recounts the group’s adventures to Tony Tony Chopper — a reindeer-boy hybrid and the newest addition to the crew. The story covers key moments from Seasons 1 and 2, including the crew’s run-ins with the Arlong Pirates, their clashes with Baroque Works assassins, and their battles against metal monsters, all reimagined with LEGO’s signature style of brick-built comedy and action.
The project is a collaboration between the LEGO Group, Japanese publisher Shueisha, and Vancouver-based animation studio Atomic Cartoons, known for their work on Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends. Tom Hyndman is serving as showrunner, writer, and executive producer on the special.
One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda is also on board as executive producer, alongside Jill Wilfert, Keith Malone, and Lars Danielsen representing LEGO, and Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements from Tomorrow Studios. The LEGO special isn’t the only new One Piece content on the horizon. Netflix also shared a first look at The One Piece, an upcoming anime series from WIT Studio that will reimagine the East Blue saga.
