Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy has officially become the best-selling set in the card game’s 30-year history, generating USD 200 million (~MYR 936 million) in sales on launch day alone, as confirmed by Hasbro during its Q2 2025 investor call.

Record-Breaking Launch Day for Magic x Final Fantasy

During the financial update, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks revealed that the Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy crossover broke internal records, outperforming all previous releases in the franchise. The set’s launch day revenue surpassed even the company’s previous Universes Beyond success, The Lord of the Rings, which needed six months to hit the same sales mark.

“We couldn’t produce enough,” said Cocks. “We increased production runs four times before release. It was by far the largest print run we’ve ever done, and we still left the market wanting more.”

Demand Outpaces Supply, More Cards Incoming

The unprecedented demand led to stock shortages across major retailers and local game stores worldwide. Despite the massive print run, the set quickly sold out in many locations, making it one of the hardest-to-find releases in recent memory for the trading card game.

Hasbro CFO Gina Goetter assured players that the company is actively working to meet demand:

“We’re continuing to produce this set,” said Goetter. “We think the set itself is going to have a huge long tail.”

Hasbro confirmed that ongoing production is underway, suggesting the Magic x Final Fantasy set won’t be a limited-time release but will instead be supported over time to meet player and collector interest.

Combining Final Fantasy’s legendary RPG legacy with Magic: The Gathering’s deep strategy and deck-building, the collaboration represents one of the most commercially successful moments in trading card game history. With USD 200 million in launch day sales, it now holds the title of highest single-day grossing Magic set ever released.
