The highly anticipated English version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby will gallop onto global platforms on June 26, 2025, developer Cygames has announced. The free-to-play horse girls racing simulation game will be available on PC via Steam, as well as iOS and Android mobile devices. Pre-registration for the game begins April 28.

First launched in Japan in February 2021, the game has enjoyed significant success in its home market, where it’s available on mobile platforms and PC via DMM Games Player and Google Play Games. The upcoming global release marks the first time international players will have official access to the popular title.

Umamusume: Pretty Derby combines sports simulation, training mechanics, and idol elements in a unique package. Players take on the role of a trainer at the Japan Horse Girls Training Center Academy, guiding their chosen Umamusume (Horse Girls) through training regimens and competitive races with the goal of achieving victory in the prestigious “Twinkle Series.”

The game features over 20 unique Umamusume characters, each with their own personalities and stories inspired by legendary racehorses. Notable characters include Special Week (voiced by Azumi Waki), Silence Suzuka (Marika Kono), Tokai Teio (Machico), and many others. Players develop bonds with their Umamusume through training and communication to help them reach their full potential.

Races feature up to 18 competitors with live commentary, and victorious Umamusume perform special winning concerts after races. The game showcases high-quality 3D graphics for both racing sequences and performance scenes.

In anticipation of the global launch, Cygames has established official English social media accounts and an English YouTube channel featuring the opening movie Girls’ Legend U. The free-to-play title will include optional in-app purchases, following the same monetization model as its Japanese counterpart.
