Insomniac Games Founder Ted Price Retires After 30 Years

After three decades of visionary leadership, Insomniac Games founder and CEO Ted Price has announced his retirement, effective March 2025. Price, who played a pivotal role in creating iconic franchises such as Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet & Clank, Resistance, and the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man, revealed that this decision had been in the works for over a year.

“I felt it was simply time to step aside and let others pave the way for our team,” Price said, reflecting on his legacy in a heartfelt blog post.

Founded in 1994, Insomniac Games has become one of the gaming industry’s most celebrated studios, recognized for its creativity and innovation. Following PlayStation’s acquisition of the studio in 2019, Insomniac cemented its reputation as a cornerstone of the PlayStation brand, delivering blockbuster hits and expanding into new projects, including the highly anticipated Marvel’s Wolverine.

To ensure a smooth transition, Price has appointed three longstanding Insomniac veterans to take the helm as co-studio heads:

• Chad Dezern, who has been with the studio since 1998 and served as Head of Creative.
• Ryan Schneider, a seasoned member since the PS2 era, who previously led Franchise Strategy and Studio Relations.
• Jen Huang, Insomniac’s CFO for the past eight years, who brings financial expertise and operational leadership to the team.

“I believe strongly that for us to continue our success, we need leaders at the top who are intimately familiar with how we do things, leaders who have helped build our culture and our processes, and who have earned people’s trust. ” Price emphasized.

Looking ahead, Insomniac Games promises to uphold its legacy of creating beloved games while evolving strategically to meet the challenges of the future. Under its new leadership, the studio aims to preserve its collaborative culture while exploring new creative opportunities.

Price’s departure marks the end of an era for Insomniac Games, but with Dezern, Schneider, and Huang at the helm, the studio is poised to continue shaping the industry for decades to come.
