SEGA has released more information about the prologue and key characters of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
The game is set in the year is 2022, where Ichiban Kasuga works tirelessly to uphold the legacy of his mentor, Masumi Arakawa.
Kasuga is rehabilitating former members of yakuza groups into society at Hello Work, whilst the comrades who fought alongside him returns to their daily lives, chasing new dreams.
However, everything begins to turn sour after a video slandering Kasuga makes its way onto the web.
Whilst all of this is happening, Ebina, captain of the Seiryu Clan, introduces Kasuga to a man from his past, Jo Sawashiro.
Sawashiro then reveals that Kasuga’s mother, Akane, a woman whom Arakawa loved, is still alive in Hawaii, and with little time remaining, she wishes to see her son one last time.
Ichiban Kasuga then sets off on a journey to Hawaii with the goal of delivering Arakawa’s ashes and search for his mother.
Its there where he encounters the Dragon of Dojima, Kazuma Kiryu, with their fateful encounter setting in motion a grand conspiracy that will envelop two distant worlds.
Key Characters:
Ichiban Kasuga
The first hero of the story, Kasuga carries on Masumi Arakawa’s legacy of rehabilitating former yakuza back into society, intent on not letting anyone fall through the cracks.
Shocked to learn that his mother is alive and well in Hawaii, he goes in search of her.
Its there, on that small slice of paradise, where he once again crosses paths with the legendary yakuza, Kazuma Kiryu.
Kazuma Kiryu
The second hero of the story, and once a legend in the yakuza world, Kiryu now lives in secrecy as an agent for the influential Daidoji that operates in both the political and financial circles.
Currently on a mission for the faction, he pays a visit to Hawaii where his fate once again collides with Ichiban Kasuga’s.
Jo Sawashiro
Once a powerful brawler under the command of Masumi Arakawa, he’s supposed to be serving time for a murder conviction, but due to certain circumstances, he finds himself reuniting with Ichiban Kasuga, his fated rival.
Yu Nanba
A former homeless man in Yokohama and a comrade of Kasuga, Nanba enjoys a peaceful albeit mundane existence working in an office at a medical equipment manufacturer.
However, like Kasuga, he is oblivious to the sinister hand about to dismantle his idyllic life.

The taxi from previous installments will be making a return, letting players fast-travel to different areas by hailing a taxi on your app for a small fee.
Additionally, there will also be new modes of transport such as an electric scooter and trolleybus.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will be released on January 26th, 2024 and will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Microsoft Windows.
