NetEase Games as one of the largest mobile games powerhouse has revealed exciting news for eSports gamers who has an ambition to climb into the industry. Being one of the closest rival with Tencent Games, NetEase has revealed their strategy in moving forward in the eSports industry with new games. With their latest installment, Knives Out, for mobile AND PC, they have 4 more battle royale games that are in-development.

The first one 风云岛行动 dubbed Operation Windcloud Island, consists of MOBA-styled characters that has skills but played in a battle-royale match. Like all battle-royale games nowadays, players will be plunging down from the skies and land on “safe” areas for loots before the actual battle begins. Players will run around the map looking for loots, hide and ambush unsuspecting players. We could see in the video above that players can even hide in a barrel for a surprise attack. While the characters each has their own unique abilities, players will still need to play it strategically to stay alive and in the safe circle.

The second one is 孤岛先锋 (代号:Alive) dubbed Island Strikers (Code: Alive) which is also another mobile battle-royale game with MOBA-styled characters. The game is developed with 2.5D visuals, giving it a LoL look and MOBA-styled overview of the characters. The characters each will have 3 of their own unique skills. As seen in the video, players don’t really go around looking for loot, instead players will just need to land on the site where the character’s equipment are dropped and head there to collect them. Then it’s all about taking action for one’s survival. Here we also see there’s a squad play. When one of your squad member is down, players can also revive them whenever there’s an opportunity.

Unfortunately there are limited info released and we’ve only got two of these courtesies to MMOCulture. The other two in-developing titles have yet to release their juicy info, one of which is Quantum Special Attack (or Quantum Squad) which we covered last year, both are confirmed to be of the battle-royale genre. With the revelation of these new titles by NetEase, they are also willing to invest a minimum of USD 160,000,000 into various functions of its eSports ecosystem which includes touring over 100 cities and tournaments in over 1,000 schools nationwide. This initiative is also planned to spread over to North America, Europe and other parts of Asia.

If you think USD 160,000,000 too much, NetEase will also be setting aside USD 47,000,000 to groom and support online streamers and shoutcasters in the form of training and lucrative annual contracts! The initiative is part of an “AllStar” project to recognize all personnel in the eSports industry and to groom them. While NetEase is looking to expand and bring recognition of the eSports industry all over the world, the success or failure of this multi-million dollar program will be a news to be told in the future.
