With the release of Octopath Traveler II fast approaching, Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia and Square Enix were kind enough to send us the Collector’s Edition.

Priced at $179.99 (~MYR 797), the Collector’s Edition consists of a physical copy of the game, an extended soundtrack CD, an art album, and the Traveler’s Bust set.

The Box

The Box shows off the gorgeous key art of Octopath Traveler II drawn by Naoki Ikushima. I’ve always enjoyed Ikushima’s iconic art as seen from other titles such as Triangle Strategy, Bravely Default and Live a Live; so it’s pleasant treat to get to see their art plastered on the box.

Another neat detail that they added to the side of the box are the pixel sprites of the 8 travelers in their running animation, giving off the nostalgic JRPG vibes. While the back of the box shows a more simple and clean design, only having the logo of the game.

Extended Battle Track & Sticker Pack

Opening up the box, we’re greeted to the physical copy of the game as well as the disc for the extended battle soundtrack. The cover of the disc track features the pixel sprites 8 travelers, but this time they’re in their battle poses. The disc features a total of 24 whole tracks, 3 for each of the travelers, and all composed by the brilliant Yasunori Nishiki.

Next up is the sticker pack featuring the 8 travelers, this time in a more vibrant colour scheme which honestly, I can totally dig it.

Traveler’s Bust Set

To me, the traveler’s bust set is possibly the main highlight in the collector’s edition. As the name suggests, the set of models feature the 8 travelers from the bust up, all sharing the same silver colour scheme. I have to say, the details on these models are very fine.

The amount of details on each of the models are nothing to scoff at. From the overall sculpt, to the minor design details like accessories, to even the folds on their clothes.These models also come with their own separate packaging, which also features the map of the Solistia continent.

Sized at approximately: W 32 mm x D 24.6 mm x H 76 mm; these models can work well as neat displays on your desk or even shelves, bringing that extra flair to your life.

Art Album

Last but certainly not least is the Octopath Traveler II Art Album featuring the beautiful artwork of the travelers illustrated by Naoki Ikushima. Each artwork spreads across two pages, giving off the illusion of a poster, which makes it easier to take in the details of the gorgeous illustrations.

The last two pages of the art album also features the lustrous map of the game’s setting – The Continent of Solistia. Being able to see the map outside of the game does give me the sense of adventure, as if I’m the one setting off on an adventure.

All in all, the Octopath Traveler II Collector’s Edition is a bundle provides a handful goodies that goes perfectly well when setting off on your journey in Solistia.

Octopath Traveler II is set to release for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam on 25th February 2023.
