Everstone Studio has officially announced that Where Winds Meet will receive its second major expansion, titled Imperial Palace, on May 28. The update opens the gates to the Kaifeng Imperial Palace, introducing a dense new storyline filled with political conspiracies, martial trials, and large-scale multiplayer challenges set within a living, breathing royal court.

The expansion marks a significant narrative milestone for the open-world Wuxia ARPG, expanding its already vast depiction of 10th-century China with new story campaigns and systems focused on courtly intrigue and hidden power struggles.

A Massive Imperial Palace Brought to Life

At the center of the expansion is the Kaifeng Imperial Palace, a sprawling complex covering over one million square meters. Built with historical inspiration, the palace features more than 3,000 dynamic NPCs, creating an ecosystem that evolves based on player interaction and narrative progression.

Players will be able to explore three distinct areas within the palace: the Front Court, the Inner Quarters, and the Central Bureaus. Each zone offers different activities, social structures, and narrative paths. In addition, rumors within the game world hint at a secret imperial treasury, further deepening the mystery surrounding the royal court.

Upon entering the palace under the guise of an investigation, players will be drawn into the Office of Martial and Virtue, an elite intelligence organization operating within the empire. From there, they will take on covert assignments while gradually uncovering hidden truths buried within the highest levels of power.

New Activities, Secrets, and Courtly Life

The “Imperial Palace” expansion introduces a wide range of interactive systems that go beyond combat. Players can participate in traditional activities such as Cricket Fighting and seasonal Ice Frolicking, alongside expanded exploration mechanics that reward curiosity.

The palace is also filled with unusual encounters and hidden interactions. Players may attempt risky prison escapes, secretly sample imperial cuisine, or even discover hidden martial arts masters living within the court. In a more ambitious twist, players can even attempt to sit on the Dragon Throne, though such actions carry unpredictable consequences.

Seasonal content will also play a role, with a Dragon Boat Festival event arriving in June. This event will allow players to engage in traditional cultural activities, craft gifts for companions, and earn rewards through themed challenges.

New Campaigns and World Boss Encounters

Alongside the expansion launch, new high-stakes campaigns will be introduced. The Sealed Treasury campaign becomes available on May 28, sending players into a heavily guarded vault after receiving an anonymous letter that hints at deep political secrets tied to the dynasty’s foundation.

Later in June, the Confinement Tower campaign will open within the palace’s underground prison. This storyline introduces a psychological and combat-driven encounter against a powerful boss born from illusion and hatred.

The expansion also adds new World Bosses within the palace grounds, including the Gilded Lament, a tragic entity tied to the Cold Palace, and the Cat Emperor, a transformed imperial feline with supernatural traits.

In addition, multiplayer content expands with two new large-scale encounters. Players will face the unpredictable attacks of Everdeer and engage in a fast-paced strategic duel against Moongazing under moonlit conditions.

With its combination of large-scale environments, narrative-driven quests, and expanded multiplayer content, Where Winds Meet continues to evolve into one of the most ambitious Wuxia ARPG experiences in development.
