Rockstar Games Shuts Down Social Club

Rockstar Games appears to have quietly shut down its Social Club service after more than a decade of operation. The social platform’s URL now redirects users to the main Rockstar Games website, marking the end of a service that connected players across multiple game titles.

The Social Club first launched with Grand Theft Auto 4 and became a hub for players to track stats, view profiles, share screenshots and videos, and connect with friends across various Rockstar titles. Over the years, it supported games including GTA 4’s DLC, Max Payne 3, L.A. Noire, GTA 5 and GTA Online, Red Dead Redemption 2 and its Online mode, and GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.

Currently viewing profiles, walls, photos, video viewing from users are gone, but could be part of new plans to introduce a new platform.

As reported by videotechuk_, the service has officially ended when the Social Club webpage now redirects to the standard homepage. Players can no longer access user profiles, walls, or view shared screenshots and videos through the Social Club platform. However, some functions remain available through other parts of the Rockstar Games website. GTA crews can still be accessed through the GTA Online website, and players can view their game progress completion on the main Rockstar site. Friends lists are still viewable, though without detailed user information.

The shutdown wasn’t entirely unexpected. Signs of the Social Club’s end appeared in late 2023 when site was updated on November 20, 2023, removing most references to “Social Club.” The company changed terms like “Social Club members” to “Rockstar Games members” and “Social Club account” to “Rockstar Games account,” suggesting a move away from the branded platform.
