Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Oh BiBi have opened pre-registration for Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, a free-to-play multiplayer game launching on iOS and Android. Players can sign up now through the App Store, Google Play, or the game’s official website.

Ranger Rumble is a hero shooter built for mobile, made by Oh BiBi alongside PlayStation Studios and Insomniac Games. The story follows Captain Qwark, who has built a combat simulation to find the next generation of Galactic Rangers, though with Qwark running things, players can expect the unexpected once they step into the Arena.

Players pick from a roster of heroes, each with their own abilities and weapons, and fight in real-time PvP battles mixed with PvE elements. The game launches with 12 playable heroes, with more planned down the line. The lineup blends new characters with familiar faces from the franchise’s history, including robots, aliens, and new Lombaxes, each with their own look and playstyle. Oh BiBi worked directly with Insomniac Games on the design and backstories of the new Lombax characters, drawing on input from original developers behind the series.

Six game modes will be available at launch, ranging from team-based PvP and PvE waves of enemies to a battle royale-inspired mode and a football-themed mode where scoring goals comes with extra firepower. The developers say they focused on keeping the humor, characters, and inventive weapons the series is known for, while tailoring the game for mobile play, and drew on the music of earlier games to keep that same tone.

Pre-registering also unlocks rewards tied to community milestones. As more players sign up, each milestone unlocks rewards for everyone, including in-game currencies Qredits, Reebos, and Raritanium. Reaching the final milestone unlocks an exclusive Clank Suit skin for the character Widget. All rewards are handed out once the game launches.
