Publisher aNCHOR and developer fuzz have announced that Muv-Luv: Tactics Kalidasa at Nightmare is coming to PC via Steam in 2027. The game will support four language options at launch: English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.
Described as a tactical simulation RPG and the heir to the long-running Muv-Luv series, Kalidasa at Nightmare puts players in the role of a UN Forces squadron commander fighting against the BETA, an invading extraterrestrial species. The game centers on commanding Tactical Surface Fighters on the front line, with an emphasis on the tension and high stakes of its combat.
One of the key things the developers are highlighting is that no prior knowledge of the Muv-Luv series is needed to jump in. The game features a self-contained story that blends military, science fiction, and character drama, making it accessible to newcomers while still offering more depth for longtime fans of the franchise.
On the gameplay side, Kalidasa at Nightmare is built entirely around single-player strategy with no online elements. Combat is turn-based, with unit placement and decision-making at the center of each encounter. Players can recruit Eishi, which are TSF pilots, choose their loadout, and customize their Tactical Surface Fighters as they progress. The game frames every command decision as carrying real weight, with the outcomes of missions and the fates of subordinates tied directly to the choices made.

No specific release date beyond the 2027 window has been announced. The game’s Steam page is currently live for those who want to follow its updates.
