Monster Hunter the Board Game has officially kicked off their Kickstarter campaign today, raising over USD 2 million within 10 hours of its launch.

The campaign’s goal was to raise USD 210,000 within 9 days, according to the site. Unlike other Kickstarter campaigns, Monster Hunter The Board Game doesn’t have any stretch goals, instead using the campaign as a sort of pre-order for the base game and its different expansions.

The Kickstarter page has also updated with more information , such as a trailer showcasing the basics of the game. Monsters behave similarly to Dark Souls The Board Game, using a deck of actions to give the monsters a sense of pre-programmed moves, that players will then have to memorize when it loops back around.

Meanwhile Hunter combat is made using a card-based system, where players will spend Stamina to build combos using their weapons. This means no dice, and just pure strategy determining how you’ll take down the monster.

The game also includes an adventure booklet, as you and your party will have to make decisions while tracking the monster. These decisions can even affect the monster’s moveset, and you can even explore for additional resources. Just like in regular Monster Hunter though, you’ll have to be aware of the Quest Timer, and take care not to spend so much time gathering that you fail to clear the hunt in time.

They’ve also shown off in more detail the game’s various miniatures, faithfully recreating the games based on their appearances in Monster Hunter World. These include weak monsters like Pukei-Pukei, all the way up to staples like Rathalos and Diablos, and finally going up to the Elder Dragons Nergigante, Teostra and Kushala Daora.
