Gears POP! Ending Service Next Year

Fans of the Funko Pop! take on Gears of War will have to sit down for this one, as the mobile game Gears POP! announced they’re terminating their service. The servers will shut down April 26th, 2020.

In a statement on the game’s website, the team said the following:

“There are a number of things that go into maintaining a game beyond keeping servers active. Addressing issues, developing content, and providing support are critical in keeping a game running. Unfortunately, this is no longer feasible”.

Before the game goes though, the developers will send it off by bringing back popular events, increasing bounty rewards as well as increasing drop rates on the game’s Legendary Pins.

The game will also be refunding in-app purchases made “Within the last 90 days effective October 28th, 2020”. In-app purchases have also been disabled for the game.

The game is a real-time strategy game, featuring Gears of Wars characters in the art style as the collectible Funko Pop! figures.

The game is still downloadable until April next year, so if you want to try the game out before it goes you’re welcome to. Since it’s got no more in-app purchases, you’ll also be able to try it out without worrying about it trying to get you to pay.
