Behaviour Interactive, the Canadian studio behind the popular survival horror game Dead by Daylight, has confirmed that it has laid off a number of employees. The exact number of people affected has not been disclosed, but the cuts were focused on the studio’s mobile and external development departments.
A spokesperson for Behaviour Interactive told Game Developer that the decision was driven by a drop in demand for that type of work.
The official statement read: “As we conclude our remaining engagements and do not foresee comparable opportunities in the near term, we have made the decision to part ways with some colleagues. Those decisions are never easy, and we are grateful for the contributions of the affected employees, who have helped shape Behaviour and support our partners over the years.”

The layoffs come roughly one month after Behaviour Interactive acquired The Fun Pimps, the studio behind the long-running survival game 7 Days to Die. The financial terms of that deal were not shared by either party.
This follows another acquisition back in September 2024, when Behaviour picked up Red Hook Studios, the team responsible for the Darkest Dungeon series. On the development side, Behaviour Interactive is currently working on a new entry in the Serious Sam franchise, set to be published by Devolver Digital, alongside continued work on Dead by Daylight.

Behaviour Interactive has been around since 1992, originally founded under the name Megatoon and later operating as Artificial Mind and Movement Inc. For much of its early history, the studio worked as a contractor, helping develop games for major publishers like Ubisoft, Konami, Sony, Nintendo, and Disney. That all changed in 2016 when Behaviour released Dead by Daylight, which went on to become the studio’s biggest hit and has since grown into a franchise with multiple spinoffs.
