NIS America has launched a new collaboration featuring characters from Ys and Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter for its retro-style pixel action RPG, Cladun X3. The crossover is now available in the West for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam).

Falcom Joins the Dungeon-Crawling Fun

Following the recent Touhou collaboration, Cladun X3 now welcomes heroes from Nihon Falcom’s legendary RPGs. Players can dungeon-crawl as Adol Christin, Estelle Bright, and Joshua Bright, all recreated in Cladun’s nostalgic pixel art style.

This update introduces a new playable area, the Official World: Adol and Friends, inspired by Minea, the iconic town from Ys I. The map faithfully recreates its original layout and atmosphere, giving fans a chance to experience it in Cladun’s signature top-down perspective.

The crossover expands Cladun X3’s growing roster of worlds, joining existing locations such as Hakurei Shrine from Touhou Project, Monster Village from The Cruel King and the Great Hero, Orange Village from Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, and NIS Plaza, a lively hub packed with beloved NIS characters. Each world brings unique settings and references that celebrate the history of these iconic games.

More Collaborations Coming Through 2025

Alongside the Falcom update, NIS America revealed several more collaborations scheduled to arrive throughout November and December. These updates will introduce more characters, themed dungeons, and creative new worlds inspired by popular franchises.

The November updates include collaborations with Ikki, Ufouria: The Saga, and The Wing of Madoola, followed by Kairosoft, JaJaMaru-kun, and Ozanari Dungeon later in the month. December continues the expansion with content inspired by Tristia of the Deep-Blue Sea, Symphonic Rain, Miracle Warriors: Seal of the Dark Lord, and Alphadia, alongside new indie collaborations such as Kaiju Lemon and Pretty☆Uncoman.

The year will end with festive additions through Christmas Cheers and New Year’s Festivities. Each update includes new worlds, crossover characters, and free downloadable edit data for players to enjoy.

How to Download the Collaboration Characters

To access the Ys and Trails in the Sky collaboration, players must first unlock the game’s Network features. Once done, they can open the Network menu, download the Official Worlds, and select the characters they want to use. After downloading, players can return to Arcanus Cella and apply the data from the Edit menu under “Apply Edit Data.”

Some characters may not include full body models, so their appearance will change depending on the armor equipped. This feature encourages creativity, allowing players to mix and match designs while maintaining their chosen characters’ personalities.
