The fast-paced shootout continues in Apex Legends with Season 21: Upheaval, bringing in a plethora of content, including the new legend Alter.

Without further ado, here are what to expect in Season 21 of Apex Legends.

Alter

Alter, real name YingLing Lui, is the latest legend joining the roster – a Void Breacher who travels across dimensions to take down targets.

She has a strong desire to have fun, steal the fanciest of foods, fight through dicey situations, and take on odd jobs for personal favors – though she didn’t have a problem double-crossing her clients if it was more beneficial or amusing.

“She was drawn to worlds on the edge of complete destruction. Whether something devastating was already happening or she helped usher in the apocalypse herself, she was there to watch whatever catastrophe ensued. It was only in those moments, after all, that people took off the masks they always wore and she could see their true selves.”

Her abilities: 

• Gift from the Rift – Can remotely interact with a death box to claim one item (cannot be a shield) only from the enemy (range 75 meters).
• Void Passage – Creates a portal passageway through a surface.
• Void Nexus – Create a regroup point that all allies can remotely interact with to open a phase tunnel back to that location.

Overall, she looks to be a fun legend, and besides Wraith and Ash, she is the third character who uses Void abilities. Her tactical skill Void Passage is an interesting one, able to be used for flanking or distraction, confusing enemies as they try to figure out where you are going to appear.

While it is true that Gift from the Rift only allows players to take one item from the enemy’s death box, it can be a lifesaver in critical situations, so making strategic use of this ability can turn the tide of battle and help players overcome challenging scenarios.

Solo Mode is Back

Solo Mode was last seen in 2019, but now it is making a comeback. With it, also comes 3 particular elements. The first is the reintroduction of the respawn token. Each player will have one respawn token, which means it allows them to join back the fight, extremely helpful in the early game.

The second feature is the battle sense, which marks a player on the minimap with a small circle as they make a loud noise. The range will be around 15 meters, letting you know you are in danger.

Lastly, the auto-healing mechanic, which slowly regenerates the player’s health when out of combat or successfully kills off an enemy. There are also some additional small adjustments, such as the reduction of the player count to 50 and the adjustment of the circle size.

Broken Moon Map Change

The new things added to the map include a quarantine bubble that covers an area, which will be revealed more in the new story. This area will have ziplines for players to move swiftly across the map. While the area is surrounded by forest, players are still clearly visible to the enemies, so exercise caution. Outside of the quarantine zone will feature around 20 points of interest, or landmarks, meaning more loot for players.

Apex Legends Season 21: Upheaval is slated to start on May 8, 2024.
