One likely highly anticipated by Touhou fans, Touhou Cannonball is finally available! At its core, it’s a board game reminiscent of Mario Party games. Let’s have a look, shall we?

Check out that production value on that opening! The game has Live 2D and 3D models for the girls as board pieces, and are voiced as well! Unfortunately, it’s not fully voiced, but you’ll get to hear your favourite girls speak. Various artists have also come together to illustrate the characters and cards. Don’t forget the music! More songs can be unlocked too.

Below is your homescreen. The Menu will give you access to the Shop, Music Room, Settings and Index as well.

In Cannonball, you can adjust your Board team and Combat teams. We’ll get further into that, but for now keep that in mind. The Board Team will have a slot for your Leader character, the chibi you’ll see on the board. You can put the leader into your Board Team, and together, they’ll have their stats. Characters have the following:

• Interest Rate: CB acquired from purchased Landmarks
• Discount Rate: Discount from purchases
• Dice Rate: Dice thrown when running into another player

You can engage with enemies on the board, and this is where your Combat Team comes in. They have their HP, ATK, and SPD. Spell cards – basically skills – are also usable. You can change the positioning of your characters in the Formation screen – front and back – and equip cards onto them. There is also elemental rock-paper-scissors to keep in mind.

Characters and cards are enhance-able. Level them up for stats, or increase their star level. The latter means even your weak 1* can become a 5* with enough materials, so you can worry less about rarity. The add-on cards can also be levelled. Characters can also undergo Limit Break, typically by salvaging cards of that character for the materials.

This will be your board view. Roll the dice and tap any of the pulsing squares to select your destination. There will be win conditions per board, with up to 3. Clear missions to gain extra rewards, as per usual. “CB” is your currency. Fighting neutral enemies can net a lot of CB and is thus beneficial to battle often. Players can also encounter each other on the same tile, and they will dice roll. The person with the higher number can inflict demerits e.g. skip a turn.

Yes, Cannonball is a gacha game. There is a “spark” system available, where after 100 rolls, you can obtain a 5-star character, so it’s already got a safety net! 10 Rolls cost 4000 premium currency.

We don’t know if it’ll ever be translated to English, but hey, this Touhou game has a lower barrier of entry compared to the mainline shoot-em-up games! Give it a spin, or dice roll, as it were!
