Final Fantasy Explorers-Force shuts down on 19 February

Final Fantasy Explorers-Force will officially shut down on 19 February 2019. The final chapter of the scenario was recently added in an update along with new summons.

Final Fantasy Explorers Force launched in March 2018 following a delay. Square Enix intended to release it last year. Like the first Final Fantasy Explorers for the Nintendo 3DS, Final Fantasy Explorers-Force is a multiplayer RPG. However, instead of four players, the game features a five player party. Players can choose from a variety of jobs from the Final Fantasy franchise such as Knight and Dragoon. Each job has its own unique items and abilities.

Additionally, the game allows players to temporarily transform into characters from the Final Fantasy franchise. Characters like Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII and Squall Leonhart from Final Fantasy VIII appear in the game. Other than characters, the game also featured summons like Ramuh and Ifrit.

Initially, Square Enix prepared a development schedule for the game when it comes to adding content. However, the company did not follow it and players became upset. This may have caused the game to eventually shut down as support for the game dwindled.

The closure of Final Fantasy Explorers-Force made it another game that Square Enix shuts down from their Business Division 3. Previously, they announced the closure of World of Final Fantasy Meli-Melo, another game from Business Division 3. However, unlike the latter game, Final Fantasy Explorers-Force’s lifespan will not reach 1 year.
