Singapore will welcome the Pokemon World Championships in 2027, marking the first time the tournament has been held in the country. The event is scheduled to run from August 13 to 15, 2027, at the Singapore Expo, with Championship Sunday taking place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Pokemon World Championships in San Francisco.

The Pokemon Company’s president and CEO, Tsunekazu Ishihara, said the 2027 event will mark the tournament’s return to Asia for the first time since 2023, when it was held in Japan, and added that the company looks forward to welcoming fans to Singapore. The last time the championships were held in Asia was in 2023, when they took place in Japan. Since then, the tournament has been hosted in the United States, moving between different cities each year.
The Pokemon World Championships is considered the top event in competitive Pokemon play, drawing the best players from around the world each year. Competitors take part in multiple formats, including the Pokemon Trading Card Game, Pokemon Video Game Championships (VGC), and Pokemon Go, all vying for the title of World Champion along with prizes and other rewards.
Organizers have not yet released further details about the 2027 championships, but more information is expected to be shared in the coming months. Fans in Singapore and across the region will be watching closely as plans for the event take shape.
