Cinder City, the upcoming open-world co-op game from South Korean publisher NC, has revised its PC system requirements after players raised concerns over how demanding the game appeared to be on paper.
The game, set in a dystopian near-future version of Seoul where players team up to fight mutated creatures, had its Steam page go live earlier this week. Soon after, players noticed that both the minimum and recommended specs were unusually high. The minimum requirements asked for 32 GB of RAM, while the recommended specs called for a massive 64 GB, which would have made Cinder City possibly the first PC game on Steam to recommend that much memory. For comparison, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X only come with 16 GB of RAM total.

The numbers stood out even more when placed next to other recent releases. Games like Forza Horizon 6, 007 First Light, Death Stranding 2, Resident Evil Requiem, and even the visually demanding Crimson Desert all recommend just 16 GB of RAM. Even Microsoft Flight Simulator, known for being heavy on hardware due to its complex simulation systems, tops out at a recommended 32 GB.
NC has since updated the listing. The recommended RAM has been brought down from 64 GB to 32 GB, though the minimum requirement remains at 32 GB, which is still on the high end compared to most current PC games. At the same time, the recommended graphics card was bumped up, moving from an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 to the more powerful RTX 4070.

The current listed requirements for Cinder City are as follows.
Minimum:
OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
CPU: Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600
RAM: 32 GB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (6 GB VRAM)
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: 100 GB available space
Recommended:
OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
CPU: Intel Core i7-12700 or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
RAM: 32 GB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: 100 GB available space
Cinder City does not yet have a confirmed release date, and further updates to its system requirements are expected before launch.
