Nintendo has released Rhythm Heaven Groove, the newest entry in its long running rhythm game series, now available for the Nintendo Switch. The game brings together a wide collection of short rhythm based mini games that ask players to listen closely to the beat and press buttons at just the right moment.
The core idea behind the game is simple to pick up but takes practice to master. Players tap along to catchy original music, including tracks from well known Japanese musician Tsunku, while taking part in a variety of quirky challenges. These range from slicing flying vegetables and bouncing fruit off a character’s arm to flapping along with birds in mid flight. Each mini game is built around timing button presses to match the rhythm of the music.
As players move through the game, they can unlock a mode called Beatspell. This is a single player mode where players battle monsters using rhythm based spells, such as fire and healing moves, by tapping buttons in time with the beat.
Rhythm Heaven Groove also includes multiplayer options. More than 30 of the games in the collection support multiplayer, allowing up to four players to join in on a single system. Multiplayer activities include tasks like slicing arrows together, plucking hair from onions, racing to grab a cake first, and even teaming up to save a prince through a game of tennis.

With its mix of simple controls, original music, and a large variety of mini games, Rhythm Heaven Groove continues the series’ focus on accessible yet challenging rhythm based gameplay. The game is now available for purchase through Nintendo’s official store.
