To mark the announcement, a Free Weekend is running from April 30 to May 4, giving players a chance to try out the Early Access version. The free trial includes access to the first map in the newly added Survival Mode, a wave-based format where players hold off zombie hordes while civilians are rescued. Every decision counts, as the mode features permadeath.
Alongside Survival Mode, the full launch will bring a lot of changes built up over the past year. Two new maps have been added to the game: Broadway, set in Queens, New York, and Beaulieu Hospital, bringing the total map count to five. The other three maps are Lewiston, Power Plant, and Pottsville.
Combat has also seen major work, with melee weapons reworked across damage, speed, stability, and reach. Throwing mechanics have been added as well, and the weapon tier system has been upgraded overall. New zombie types called Prime Runners and Army Reserves have joined the threat pool, and zombies now react to sound rather than locking onto specific players.

On the player side, character customization has been introduced so players can change how their Responder looks. Progression has been reworked to include new perk slots and economy changes. Quality-of-life updates include match reconnect functionality. For newer players, the game now includes a Tutorial Gym to practice shooting and melee combat, along with expanded difficulty options including Casual and Classic variants with flexible respawn settings. Early Individual Extraction is also available if the squad drops below 50 percent.
