Publisher Kwalee and developer Clover Bite have announced that GRIME II, the follow-up to the 2021 action-adventure Metroidvania GRIME, will be launching on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on March 31. The game was already confirmed for PC via Steam, and the console versions will release on the same day.
In this sequel, players take on the role of a “Formless,” described as an art mimic that can absorb defeated enemies and summon copies of them called molds. These molds can be used in combat and exploration. The game takes place in a new part of the GRIME universe, featuring a world built around unusual imagery like painted nails and giant vases, each area home to its own civilization and characters.
One of the central mechanics is the Mold system. After absorbing defeated enemies, players can shape them into molds and use them for special attacks — throwing enemies, launching projectiles, stunning foes, or summoning them as allies.
Environmental Combat is also a big part of the game. The surroundings can be used to deal damage to nearby or distant enemies, though enemies can use the same environment against the player.

Players also have access to a Parry and Grasp mechanic, where hand-tendrils can either deflect incoming attacks or grab and absorb enemies, helping players learn their forms. On the customization side, the game offers over 30 weapons, 20 armor pieces, and more than 40 abilities to mix and match for different playstyles.
