GPU Prices Set to Rise in Early 2026 as AMD and NVIDIA Plan Multiple Increases

Gamers looking to upgrade their graphics cards may want to act soon, as both AMD and NVIDIA are preparing to raise GPU prices starting in early 2026. According to Board Channels, AMD will begin increasing prices for its graphics cards in January 2026, with NVIDIA following in February. The price hikes won’t be a one-time event either—both companies are expected to continue raising prices over several months throughout the year.

AMD’s add-in-board partners may see the first increases as early as January, with more increases planned for the months after. NVIDIA’s add-in-card partners are expected to start seeing price increases in February. Some brands already made small price adjustments in December, while others held off. Individual manufacturers will decide whether to pass these increases on to consumers in January.

The timing is notable for AMD, whose RDNA 4 lineup recently stabilized in price. The flagship RX 9070 XT had nearly reached its manufacturer’s suggested retail price before these planned increases. With most previous-generation AMD GPUs reaching end-of-life status and only a few RDNA 4 models available, options for budget-conscious buyers may become limited.

Both AMD’s RX 9000 series and NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series cards are expected to see higher prices in the coming months.

The increases stem from rising component costs. GPU and VRAM combinations account for roughly 80% of the total cost when graphics cards ship to manufacturers. Memory prices have seen significant increases recently, with DDR5 and other DRAM modules rising sharply in cost. These higher component costs leave manufacturers with limited options but to adjust retail prices accordingly.

While the exact amount of each increase remains unclear, the rising costs of memory and other components suggest prices could climb substantially. Some RTX 50 series cards are already selling at premium prices through certain retailers.
