The Game Awards continues to grow into one of the biggest events in global entertainment. Since its debut in 2014 with just 1.9 million livestreams, the annual celebration has expanded dramatically. This year, The Game Awards 2025 recorded an estimated 171 million global livestreams, setting a new all-time record.
Notably, this figure represents an 11% increase from 2024’s previous high of 154 million livestreams. Importantly, the total only includes full broadcast streams. It does not count individual clips, trailers, or viewership from Amazon Prime Video, which streamed the show for the first time.

Massive Growth Across Global Streaming Platforms

The Game Awards 2025 reached audiences across nearly every major digital platform. Overall, the show streamed live on YouTube, Twitch, Steam, TikTok Live, X, Kick, Facebook, Instagram Live, platforms in China, and JioHotstar in India. According to StreamCharts, Twitch, YouTube, and other Western platforms recorded 4.4 million peak concurrent viewers combined, marking a 9% increase year over year.
YouTube and Twitch Hit New Milestones
On YouTube, the official 4K stream achieved nearly 1.4 million peak concurrent viewers, representing an 8% year-over-year increase. Meanwhile, across all YouTube streams, including co-streams, peak concurrency surpassed 2.4 million viewers, up 9% from last year. In addition, over 8,600 YouTube channels co-streamed the event, setting a new platform record.

On Twitch, The Game Awards 2025 attracted more than 1.8 million peak concurrent viewers. Total unique viewers and hours watched both rose by 5% compared to 2024. Furthermore, Twitch co-streaming saw explosive growth, with 16,500 creators sharing the broadcast. This marked a 50% increase from last year’s 11,000 co-streamers.
Social Media Engagement Reaches New Highs
Engagement on X also climbed significantly during the event. Between December 10 and 12, posts related to The Game Awards increased 12% year over year, reaching more than 1.79 million posts.

Additionally, videos on X generated over 60 million views, covering the official broadcast and related shared content. Viewer participation also surged. Authenticated voting rose over 10% from 2024, exceeding 123 million votes, including participation in the Players’ Voice award.
Record-Breaking Global Distribution

Globally, The Game Awards 2025 achieved its widest distribution to date. In China, the show streamed live across a record number of platforms, including Bilibili, Huya, Weibo, WeChat, Douyin, Zhihu, DouYu, Baidu, TapTap, XiaoHongShu, QQ, Kuaishou, YouKu, RED, and HeyBox. Meanwhile, the broadcast also reached audiences in South Korea through CHZZK and Soop, as well as Japan via NicoNico.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Dominates the Night

The Game Awards 2025 took place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on December 11. Sandfall Interactive and Kepler Interactive’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the night’s biggest winner, claiming Game of the Year. Beyond that, the title also won awards for game direction, narrative, art direction, score and music, performance, best independent game, best debut indie game, and best RPG.
Live Performances and Celebrity Presenters
The ceremony also featured several standout entertainment moments. Evanescence delivered a live performance of “Afterlife,” featured in Netflix’s upcoming animated Devil May Cry series based on Capcom’s franchise. Additionally, the cast of Paramount Pictures’ upcoming Street Fighter film presented the award for Best Ongoing Game, which went to No Man’s Sky by Hello Games.

Presenters throughout the night included Dan Houser, David Harbour, Felicia Day, Gemma Chan, J.J. Abrams, Jeffrey Wright, Lenny Kravitz, Maggie Robertson, Neil Newbon, Todd Howard, and many more. The Game Awards Orchestra also performed a special “Game of the Year” medley, composed by Lorne Balfe, featuring music from this year’s nominees.
Major Game and Entertainment Reveals
As expected, the show delivered several high-profile announcements. New reveals included 007 First Light, 4:LOOP, Invincible VS, Out of Words, Resident Evil: Requiem, and Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic.

Additionally, audiences received first looks at The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons.
