Capcom Singapore has partnered with Mapúa University and Prime Manpower to launch an educational program focused on games, intellectual property, and digital culture in the Philippines. The collaboration brings together Capcom’s experience in game development and IP management, Mapúa University’s engineering and technology education, and Prime Manpower’s workforce solutions. Together, they aim to prepare students for careers in the global gaming industry.
The partnership will officially begin with two events in January 2026:
- A signing ceremony on January 26 at Mapúa University’s special event space in Metro Manila
- A lecture on January 27 titled “Intellectual Property and the Game Business”
Motoki Okuyama, General Manager of Capcom’s Intellectual Property Department in Japan, will deliver the lecture. He’ll cover topics including IP rights in game development, how game properties expand into merchandise and other media, and the importance of IP protection in the global market. The initiative will include classes, project-based learning, and internship opportunities. Students will learn how creativity, technology, IP, and business work together in game development.

Each organization brings specific contributions:
Capcom Singapore will provide lectures and learning materials based on their game IPs, while sharing real-world examples of IP strategy and game business practices.
Mapúa University will design courses and curriculum, support student projects and research, and provide campus facilities and resources.
Prime Manpower will connect students with industry professionals, create internship opportunities, and deliver career support programs.
Why the Philippines
Ricky Bian Li, Managing Director of Capcom Singapore, noted that the gaming industry in Southeast Asia has grown rapidly in recent years. He highlighted that interest in gaming and digital creativity has increased significantly among young people in the Philippines.
“Through this collaboration, we hope students will gain first-hand understanding of how creativity, technology, IP, and business come together to create value in game content—and apply these learnings to their future careers,” said Li.
Dr. Dodjie S. Maestrecampo, President and CEO of Mapúa University, emphasized the university’s focus on preparing students for global careers through industry-aligned programs and real-world training. He described the partnership as giving students “access to industry practitioners, international best practices, and hands-on learning rooted in game business and intellectual property.”

Prime Manpower stated that understanding games and intellectual property is becoming essential not just for creators and engineers, but also for business professionals in the digital industry. The company added that understanding games and IP is “increasingly essential not only for creators and engineers but also for business professionals.”
The program from Capcom represents an effort to develop talent in the ASEAN region’s gaming sector, with the Philippines serving as the starting point for this educational model.
