Netflix Announces Live-Action Solo Leveling Series Starring Byeon Woo-seok

Netflix has officially confirmed the production of a live-action series adaptation of Solo Leveling, the globally acclaimed webtoon phenomenon. Rising South Korean actor Byeon Woo-seok will take on the lead role as Sung Jinwoo, the underdog hero turned supernatural powerhouse.

The project marks the streaming giant’s latest dive into Korean fantasy adaptations and is based on the record-breaking Solo Leveling series, which boasts over 14.3 billion views worldwide on KakaoPage. Originally a web novel by Chugong published in 2016, the story was later adapted into a webtoon illustrated by Dubu (Redice Studio) and written by h-goon, gaining massive popularity across Asia and beyond.

From Weakest Hunter to World Savior

In a world where mysterious Gates open to other dimensions filled with terrifying monsters, Sung Jinwoo starts off as the weakest of all Hunters—individuals with supernatural powers licensed to fight these threats. However, after surviving a deadly dungeon, Jinwoo awakens a unique ability that allows him to level up in strength, something unheard of in this world.

Byeon Woo-seok Cast as Sung Jinwoo

Actor Byeon Woo-seok, known for his breakout roles in 20th Century Girl and the drama Lovely Runner, will step into the shoes of Jinwoo. With his growing popularity and proven emotional range, fans are excited to see how he’ll portray the complex journey of the once-weak Hunter.
