Anime Festival Asia 2025 Returns To Jakarta This June

This year, Anime Festival Asia (AFA) will return to Jakarta Convention Center starting from June 6 to June 8, marketing the 9th edition of the biggest celebration of Japanese Pop Culture across Southeast Asia!

Anime Festival Asia has lit the spark of Indonesia ablaze over the past 17 years, showcasing over hundreds and thousands of performers and exhibitors with millions of fans taking part in the festivities.

Witness the events comprised three main areas: the Akiba Town exhibition hall, the Day Stage and Night Concerts!

Showstopping Stage Performances 

All attendees can witness the best performances from popular Japanese artists and musicians, singing along to all the anime theme song favorites and vibe to the hectic energy the concerts will hold.

Day Stage Guest Appearances And More

Visit Day Stage and witness Japan’s acclaimed voice actors, directors, illustration artists and musical artists featuring the following:

• Tougen Anki – The world premiere of the first episode of Tougen Anki will be held at AFA Indonesia.
• Dan Da Dan 
• KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO – Two members of KAMITSUBAKI CITY UNDER CONSTRUCTION will make special guest appearances – KAF and RIM, with the premiere of its anime series in July.
• Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid

A special meet and greet will also be available for attendees to personally meet up with their favourite voice actors such as:

• Shion Wakayama – Aoi Aioi (Her Blue Sky), Takina Inoue (Lycoris Recoil), Asahi Amagami (Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister), Momo Ayase (DAN DA DAN)
• Kazuki Ura – Shiki Ichinose (TOUGEN ANKI), Yoichi Isagi (Blue Lock), Luke Braveheart (Zenshu), and Kizuki Hazawa (Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You).
• Yuuki Kuwahara – Tohru (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid), Lyrule (High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another).

Voice actors are not the only popular figures that can be met up close and personal, attendees can also visit their favorite cosplayers throughout the event in different stage activities and booth appearances. The four cosplay artists include:

• Baobao – Hong Kong based cosplayer, attended as a guest cosplayer in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia and more.
• Thames Malerose – Thai based cosplayer, has won 3rd Place at the World Cosplay Summit 2022.
• Weian Vann – Chinese based cosplayer known for their well crafted cosplays, mixing elegance with occasional aspects of horror.
• YingTze – Malaysian based cosplayer with nearly two decades of experience, her career began to spark at AFA’s original Moe Moe Kyun maid cafe.

Akiba Town Immersion And Adventure

Witness of the world of anime through Akiba Town as AFA Indonesia sets up booths to showcase the latest merchandise, collectibles and displays from the best Japanese brands to the top notch cosplayers and creators.

From the Creators Hub and the Cosplay Hub, witness special showcases from talented artists and cosplayers.

Among the featured Creators is The Art of Rachta Lin. After chasing her dream coming from from a corporate art director to a renowned manga artist, she has carefully honed her skills over time. Partnering up with a top publisher in Japan, Rachta Lin’s manga series “The Wonderverse Saga” takes the community by storm!

Regional cosplayers will also join the AFA Cosplay Hub with more to come other than the first wave of artists announced.

Additionally, AFA Creators Hub and Niconico Chokaigi have partnered up to create a platform for a cultural exchange between Japan and Southeast Asia’s creators, promptly titled the Asia Creators Cross (ACC).

A zone for the platform will be setup at AFA and Niconico Chokaigi that will represent independant artists of both regions. To kick of the launch of ACC, Malaysian born cosplayer Ying Tze will represent Southeast Asia at Niconico Chokaigi 2025 from April 26 to April 27. Whereas Anime Festival Indonesia will feature Japanese artists MOMOE and Kou, who will present their art to all visitors in Indonesia.
