It was revealed that Tencent has made a deal with Bandai Namco to develop and publish the mobile version of the anime MMORPG Blue Protocol.

As reported by Bloomberg, according to the people familiar with the matter, Tencent has secured rights for the mobile version of Bandai Namco’s Blue Protocol as a means to rekindle international growth.

Furthermore, it was also revealed that Tencent has assembled a team of developers for the development of Blue Protocol’s mobile version and will hold its global distribution rights.

At the moment, the plans for when the mobile version of Blue Protocol is officially announced are still not clear yet and the project could take a year or more for development.

Blue Protocol is an anime-style MMORPG developed by Bandai Namco Studios and is a free-to-play title that relies on in-game microtransactions for monetization.

The game was released in Japan on the 14th of June this year and attracted 600,000 players in its first week while having 200,000 simultaneous connections at its peak.

This marks the fastest-growing Bandai Namco PC online game at launch and a Western release is set to release next year through the distributions from Amazon Games.

Over the recent years, Tencent has a proven formula of creating mobile games from established franchises like Pokémon, Call of Duty, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, thus it made sense that they might also be aiming at scooping up Blue Protocol.
