Takeuchi, the producer of Sword Art Online Variant Showdown has announced that the game will be delayed until further notice.

Initially, the game was supposed to be released last Sunday, 6th November 2022 in celebration of Sword Art Online anime’s 10th Anniversary. However, complications have made it difficult for the game to be released on that day, as stated by Takeuchi himself.

The full statement given by Takeuchi reads as follows:

We were planning to release the game on 11/6/2022, the day SAO began, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the SAO anime, but it became difficult so we decided to postpone the release date. We apologize to all players who have been looking forward to the game for a long time, and we would like to ask you to wait a little longer.

We are still working on the game to make it even better for everyone, and we are very close to the release of SAOVS.

Thank you again for your patience and we hope you will continue to support SAOVS.

For those that do not know, Sword Art Online Variant Showdown is the newest mobile game entry to the Sword Art Online series by Bandai Namco for the IOS and Android.

A brief synopsis for the game’s story reads as follows:

“When Kirito and his friends hear about a new game called Cross Edge that is supposedly causing memory loss to its players, they set off to investigate…

But while playing Cross Edge, they are ambushed by a mysterious presence!”

The game featured hack and slash gameplay along with the Switch system that mirrors from the series where you tag out the active character to swap in their partner to deal massive damage.
