The Legacy of Jian Xia Qing Yuan

Back in 2003, Jian Xia Qing Yuan (JXQY) pioneered the Wuxia setting and helped bring the genre and culture to greater popularity in China and other Asian regions. The game was a big and unexpected hit in countries like Malaysia, Singapore, and especially Vietnam.

Before JXQY was launched, there were only two online games in Vietnam and the total online players were only 20K. But in 2005, the game Online was first officially launched in the country and it went viral. the online player count reached an unprecedented peak of 170K people in a matter of months. At that time, JXQY acquired 70% of the entire Vietnam online game market.

The great performance in Vietnam led to Seasun Entertainment creating the series’ first mobile remaster. The Vietnamese version of Jian Xia Qing Yuan R was launched in April 2021, and it immediately hit the top no.1 rankings in the regional app Store. Despite the years gone by, players still found passion in the good old days of high-flying duels that the game offered them.

In the early 2000s, JXQY was also launched in SG/MY region, although it didn’t get the same amount of reactions as Vietnam, It was still a big success, that many older gamers remember to this day. After entering the battlefield, players will be assigned the forces of one of two mighty armies, the forces of Song or the forces of Jin. It’ll be up to you and your forces to strike against the opposing team and claim victory for your kingdom. To this end, you must Kill enemies, neutral NPCs, and capture the flag.

It’s not just the visuals and gameplay that make a return. Jian Xia Qing Yuan R also brings back the soundtracks from the 2003 classic. The popular tracks of the original like 笑问情缘(Laugh over Love),剑侠情(Swordsman Love), and 大英雄(Hero) will appear once again. The original composer 罗晓音Luo Xiao Yin, known as the father of Jian Xia Qing Yuan music will also return and create another exclusive theme.
