Nintendo Switch owners in Japan might want to take extra care of their consoles as the company announces that it’s raising repair costs for both the Switch and Switch 2 in the country. The new prices take effect on November 16, with the company attributing the latest increase to rising costs for replacement parts.

According to Nintendo’s announcement, the revised prices will apply to devices received by the company from the effective date. The changes cover repairs involving the consoles’ CPU boards, LCD units, and other components, while several accessories will retain their existing repair prices.

One of the biggest increases affects the Nintendo Switch 2’s CPU board. The repair price will rise from ¥27,500 to ¥37,400, an increase of ¥9,900. The original Switch will also see a similar adjustment. CPU board repairs for the older console will increase from ¥16,500 to ¥26,400, also a ¥9,900 hike.

Other repairs involving the consoles’ internal components and displays will also become more expensive, although the increases vary depending on the part being repaired. However, the price revision does not appear to extend to several accessories. Nintendo is keeping repair costs unchanged for the Joy-Con, Joy-Con 2, Nintendo Switch dock, Pro Controller, and camera.

This is not the first time Nintendo has increased repair costs in Japan. The company previously raised prices in early 2025, before the Switch 2 launched. For now, the announced changes are limited to Japan. Nintendo has not announced similar repair price increases for other regions.
