Famous adult visual novel series Yakin Byoutou (Night Shift Hospital) is about to add another entry to its video game lineup. Entitled Yakin Byoutou Online -New Operation-, the upcoming free-to-play card battle RPG will bring back familiar characters while introducing a new gameplay format built around collecting cards and battling opponents. The game is reportedly being published by FANZA GAMES, with pre-registration now open in Japan. However, a release date has yet to be announced.

The original Yakin Byoutou debuted on PC in 1999 and became a recognised name in Japan’s adult gaming market. The series centres on a hospital setting, with the new game returning to St. Lupinus General Hospital and featuring characters from previous instalments. Players take on the role of a junior doctor working under Ryuji Hirasaka, the protagonist of the original game. As they explore the hospital, they will encounter familiar heroines who trigger card battles.

Gameplay-wise, it revolves around collecting cards through a gacha system and assembling decks to take on opponents. Winning battles also unlocks story scenarios associated with the respective characters, tying progression to both combat and narrative content.

While Yakin Byoutou Online -New Operation- is confirmed for Japan, its developers have yet to announce a launch date or provide details about a potential release outside the country. The free-to-play model and gacha-based card collection system mark a new direction for the long-running franchise, bringing its established characters and hospital setting into an RPG format.
